Yay Bumbo!
We love our new Bumbo seats! These things are great. A friend told me about them and so I got 2 of them. They have little trays on them too. And yes, Eli's chubby little legs fit! They sit in them and watch TV, sit outside with us, sit on the table at dinnertime, and I feed them while they sit in them. They even sit in them and play with the bars on their activity mat. The seats are supposed to help them learn to sit up on their own. They both love them. Eli prefers sitting in his and playing rather than laying on the mat. And he always has to be in the middle of everything so these seats really help. We put them in their seats and on the table when we are in the kitchen too. Lifesavers!

Mule Days
We all went to Mule Days this past weekend in Bishop. It was a lot of fun. We got there in time for the parade in the morning. The twins met their first clown. They laughed. Eli squealed at everything going by. There were a lot of vendors with crafts and other things. We got a picture of Dan and Lance trying on hats. What a couple knuckleheads. We hung out with some other friends at their RV's and then went to a rodeo. We didn't get home until midnight. The twins were good all day but they sure were cranky on Sunday. Overtired I would guess. There were, of course, mules everywhere. Some of them were gorgeous. The Budweiser Clydesdales and a 20 Mule Team were in the parade. Pretty impressive.

6 Months Old Already!
The twins are 6 months old this week! They are really giving me a run for my money too. They laugh, talk all the time, squeal (loud too!), and make raspberry noises. That's really cute unless Eli is eating squash! Luci is trying to roll over but doesn't like to be on her stomach so she stops. Eli grabs his feet and rolls around. He can put his foot in his mouth too! They are going to sit up before they roll over. Both will sit forward by themselves if they are in your lap. They are growing so fast. They are even getting ready to have some teeth! At Eli's appt with his new pediatrician the doc said his gums are bulging on top and bottom. That might explain some of the crankiness. All is well and I can't believe how fast they are growing. Before long they will be talking and walking. Oh grief....I don't think I'll ever be ready for the walking....
Our First Foods!
We are now eating real food! And we love it! Well, at least Eli does. Luci seems to tolerate it and doesn't get near as excited as Eli. The doctor said no solids for Eli unless he just isn't satisfied with formula. Then we can add in some fruits and veggies but no juices or cereals. He is definately not satisfied! He was trying to grab food from our plates and just went nuts every time we sat down to dinner and didn't include him. So now he sits on the table in his boppy pillow and we feed him at the same time. He loves it. Doesn't even make a mess. We tried about a month ago but it was a messy disaster with both of them! Luci still is pushing her tongue out alot but is getting better at it. So far they've had carrots, squash, bananas, sweet potatoes, and avocado. They love avocado! Feeding Eli solids seems to make him happier. And on a positive note, his poopoo is firmed up and no more diarrhea! Yay!!!

Elijah's Saga Continues
Well, an update on Elijah's problems. A couple weeks ago his (now former) pediatrician told me to keep a food diary because Eli was still throwing up. After looking at it, he just chalked it up to I was feeding him to much. He also asked who told me to feed him cereal and fruit (he did). I was to feed him less amounts more often and if he was screaming b/c he was hungry I was to just deal with it. So in my normal hot-headed manner, I told that office what I thought of their theory and trekked out to find Eli a new doctor. One came highly recommended in the area where we are moving so I made an appointment and came down to Temecula last week. Of course Dan was happy b/c we stayed with him. He was missing his babies (and maybe me too!). So we saw Dr. Bob Sears, a nationally known pediatrician who has written many books and articles for magazines. He's very nice. He diagnosed Eli with a bad vaccine reaction (this all started 1 1 /2 days after his 4 month shots, but his former dr. said there was no way it was a reaction). Apparently one of the ways reactions can happen is completely messing up the GI system. So we have gone on a very expensive specialty formula for 2 weeks, cod liver oil twice a day (supposed to be very healing for the intestines), and probiotics twice a day (all the good bacteria in his intestines were wiped out). It's been only 5 days since the new treatments started and there has been an amazing change. He's happier, less fussy, and the diarrhea has slowed down and looks to be starting to firm up a little. He's also throwing up a lot less. He won't get anymore vaccines for awhile until he's healed. And then he'll get one at a time. Luci will follow the same schedule. She didn't have a reaction but we'll put her on the same safer schedule with Eli. Luci is doing wonderful. She has constipation issues but overall is extremely happy and healthy. She plays and makes raspberry noises and talks all the time (I think she gets that from me!)
