Alabama Hills

My favorite picture-taking spot at Alabama Hills.

Mt. Whitney

We took Lance, Gail, Zach, and Amber to Mt. Whitney this weekend. Unfortunately the road was closed due to snow so we couldn't go all the way up there but we did get to see the base of the mountain. There was a stream way down a hill and Zach and Lance hiked down to investigate. It was interesting seeing them come back up-we were at around 8000 feet elevation and they weren't used to it! There's a picture of Lance trying to get some air. We got some nice pictures and then went to have lunch in Lone Pine - a small town at the base of the mountains. We also briefly explored some rocks in Alabama Hills in between the base of the mountain and the town. Many movies and TV shows were filmed there. Lone Ranger and many other westerns, Tremors, Gladiator, and most recently Ironman were all filmed there. We visited the film museum and then ate at the Pizza Factory (very yummy pizzas!).

A Weekend With the Twins

This weekend our good friend Todd got married in San Diego. Dan was a groomsman. It was a beautiful weekend and the bride Jessica was gorgeous. It was a small intimate wedding on the bay, in a garden with the ocean in the background. The twins went with us and were perfect. Everyone loved them and we had plenty of babysitters. We got them all dressed up and they slept through the ceremony and most of the reception. Just showed us that going somewhere with them isn't so bad and not as hard as we were expecting. The twins and I had breakfast with the families while Todd and the boys went off for guy stuff. The weekend made me feel better about the job I'm doing with them too. Everyone kept commenting on how impressed they were with me being out and about with them, especially in the morning by myself. And apparently I seem very relaxed too and not stressed out. Boy do I have people fooled! It was a great weekend away for the 4 of us.

2 Months Old

The twins are now 2 months old. We will actually find out how big they are next week at their 2 months appointment. They start getting their shots then-so not ready for that! We found out that Lucianna is lactose intolerant. That was after a week and a half of screaming fits all day and night. But all is better now and back to normal. And I was told that Eli is eating too much. He is a bit chunky but he's not easily satisfied by what he gets. Sometimes he wants more and he will fuss until he gets it! I guess the doc thinks he's gaining weight too fast? Oh well, I'll give Eli whatever amount he wants and can handle if it makes him happy and keeps him from screaming! You'd be surprised how loud he can be!

Ma Tante Nancy

Ma Tante (aunt) Nancy came with Dan's parents and then stayed for an additional week after his parents went home. Nan was extremely helpful with the twins and helped me out with the house as well. We had quite a few shopping trips too! Nan even got to go to the twins doctor's appointment and meet the infamous Dr. Shumacher (the kids pediatrician who looks like Jerry Garcia, wears bib overalls and tie-dyed shirts and neon green crocs-he's quite the character!). After Nancy was the last one left she got plenty of quality auntie time with her niece and nephew. Nancy is also the twins godmother and guardian. After seeing her with the twins, we are sure she is perfect for the job!

Memere and Pepere Raymond

Memere (pronounced maymay-french for grandma) and Pepere (pronounced paypay-french for grandpa) Raymond were here to spoil their new grandchildren for a week. They were hands on from the minute the twins woke up to when they went to bed. Both were very helpful by taking them in the morning so mommy could go back to sleep. They got to go with us to take the kids to see their first Santa. There was alot of spoiling going on all week! I hardly had to lift a finger when it came to feeding and diapers! Memere and Pepere had a horrible trip home with snow delays and missed flights but I sure hope it was worth it. I think they had a wonderful time and enjoyed meeting their new grandkids. Next time the twins will be able to remember their spoiling a little more!

A Very Merry Christmas

We had a very nice and relaxing Christmas. It was just us and the new babies. We opened their gifts for them, they were so excited! HAHA, they slept the whole time. They were somewhat awake enough to take some pictures. We are truly blessed this year, twice! We may get twice the frustrations all new parents get but we are lucky enough to get double the joy. We are very lucky to have Luci and Eli and this holiday season was even better because of their arrival.
